We encourage you to apply to become a part of the Lutherans Outdoors Summer Staff Family!

Choose the camp best suited for your interests.

Look at our info, talk to your friends and decide which program interests you. Which age group do you prefer? Do you have horseback riding experience? Do you want to spend the summer on a lake? Do you prefer smaller or larger groups? If you are unsure, we would be glad to help you explore your options at your interview. Working at camp captures the attention of future job recruiters!

The period of employment is from late May through mid to late August, depending on the program you apply for and the letter of call you will receive if you are accepted.

Job Descriptions By Camp - SUMMER

We are excited that you are interested in making a difference in the lives of all ages at Camp!

This is great! All we ask to get started is some basic information

By checking which camp or camps you are interested in, the staff from that site can contact you to answer your questions via the method you said you preferred.

Summer Staff Interest

Please fill out the information below, and you will be contacted by one of our camp STAFF about the summer staff application process.

Complete an Application Form

Once we have your application, we will contact you soon for a PERSONAL INTERVIEW. Then, you will learn about LO and our camps and how we seek to use and develop your skills to impact campers.

We will explain how, at our camps, we promise to:

Explore Faith | Welcome All | Build Leaders | Care of ALL Creation

INTERVIEW

Interviews may be done in person, by video chat, or by phone at a convenient time for you and last approximately one hour. During that time, we will share information about the camp and the position in which you are interested, answer any further questions you may have, and ask questions of you to get to know you better and see how your talents and skills may fit within our camp programs.

AGREEING TO WORK TOGETHER:

We will review camp policies and invite you to join our team through a summer contract.

That means you are a part of one of the greatest experiences you will ever have as a staff member of a LO camp! We promise to build your skills and create a community of support that grows with you during the summer

INTERNSHIPS

We know internships are a big deal during your schooling. We invite you to have a conversation with us about your needs. We can customize the camp experience to meet many fields of study. Don’t pass by a summer at camp believing you have to do the internship experience elsewhere.

POST INTERVIEW

Following the interview process, camp staff will notify applicants whether or not they will receive a job offer. If you receive an offer, you will receive a staff agreement and a temporary staff policy manual to sign. Agreements will include the position offered and compensation. Applicants should inform the camp of any changes to their employment dates or status before they sign an agreement.

Pre-Employment

Each camp will send out a camp mailing (or email) that will provide further information on what to expect for the summer, what to pack, and ways to plan and prepare for a great summer!

Again, we thank you for your interest in doing ministry with Lutherans Outdoors in South Dakota. If you should need additional information about the programs of Lutherans Outdoors, please feel free to write or call.
