Counselors

  • Act as a caring and compassionate leader for groups of 6-10 campers each week
  • Facilitate safe and engaging experiences of faith formation, team building, worship, and more
  • Attend and run day camp programs
  • Rotate onto support staff or trip programming throughout the summer
  • Focus on safety, relationships and faith formation
  • Brings creativity, energy, and passion to all areas of programming

 

Outreach Directors

  • Share camp with area churches all summer long while leading a team of three counselors
  • Direct contact for churches hosting Day Camps
  • Serve alongside counselors to organize a daily schedule, prepare supplies for all activities and bring the spirit of camp across South Dakota
  • Assists in leading programming for campers as needed
  • Great opportunity for education and child development majors to gain experience in a unique youth capacity

 

Speciality Camp Director

  • Coordinates scheduling and logistics for all Specialty Camps including Fishing Camp, Archery Camp, Kayak Camp and Ecology Camp
  • Organizing the daily operations of specialty camp from scheduling, running daily operations, set up and being a mentor to counselors
  • Keep camp going on time, in a positive and empowering manner

 

Parent Communicator

  • Oversees media communications throughout the summer camp season including photography, videography, and social media promotion
  • Collecting a variety of photos each day at camp, sharing the camp experience with loved-ones back home through NeSoDak’s social media pages while
  • Assisting with a number of daily camp activities and program logistics
  • Needs to be comfortable and familiar with photo/video editing programs as well as social media sites

 

Music Director 

  • Coordinating music throughout all summer programming
  • Leading creative and strong music in worship services
  • Serves as a resource to teach guitar lessons to staff and campers
  • Helps assigning music leaders for Sunday worship as well as onsite weekly worships
  • Assists in leading programming for campers as needed
  • A background in music education is desired

 

Arts Director 

  • Oversees arts and crafts throughout day camps and onsite activities
  • Serve as a resource to counselors to lead various crafts or activities during bible study, choice time or cabin times
  • Thinks creatively to develop unique crafts and art activities for campers of all ages
  • Assists in leading programming for campers as needed
  • A background in education or art is desired

 

Chaplain 

  • Oversees the implementing of the Summer Theme in worships and daily operations
  • Leads creative and strong Lutheran worship services
  • Serve as a resource to counselors and campers during bible study and in planning camper led worships
  • Assists in leading programming for campers as needed
  • Background as a Seminary student with experience in youth ministry or current pastors desired 

 

Canteen & Finance Director  

  • Oversees all canteen operations and other finance opportunities
  • Organize the canteen, keep track of inventory, handling of sales, ordering of merchandise and all finances regarding the canteen
  • Assists in other projects assigned by Office Manager as needed 
  • Assists in leading programming for campers as needed
  • A background in sales, business or marketing is desired

 

Sustainability Director

  • Responsible for overseeing the greenhouse, gardening, recycling initiatives and composting system located onsite at camp
  • Lead programming on sustainability with campers in connection to measures we are taking at camp to be good stewards
  • Assists in leading programming for campers as needed
  • Background in education or environmental studies is desired

 

Deck Hand

  • Must be 16 years of age
  • Ensures that facilities and kitchen are clean and running smoothly
  • Washes dishes and cleans dining hall and lodge facilities
  • Assists in other maintenance and cleaning as needed
  • Assists in leading programming for campers as needed

 

Head Counselor

  • Coordinates daily schedules and activities around camp
  • Resource to summer staff to provide mentorship, support and guidance. 
  • Coordinates and plans Discovery Time
  • Runs the daily operations of camp from scheduling, running daily operations, set up and being a mentor to counselors
  • Assists in other areas of programming as needed
  • Must be at least 21 years of age. 

 

Servant Journey Director

  • Coordinates all Servant Journey Trips to Omaha and Duluth
  • Accompanying counselors, running programming on the bus to service sites, leading bible studies, worship services and keeping the schedule running
  • Coordinates and participates in all areas of programming

 

Healthcare Director

  • Administers medications (prescribed and OTC) to campers
  • Administer first aid and care for sick campers
  • Manage risk and safety issues at camp
  • Maintains healthcare records accurately
  • Helps coordinate and participates in all areas of programming
  • EMT, LPN, or RN preferred

 

Waterfront Director

  • Coordinates and supervises all waterfront activities and programming
  • Supports and equips all lifeguards and onsite adventure instructors for success
  • Cares for and cleans waterfront and all waterfront equipment
  • Runs water emergency drills and manages risk on waterfront
  • Helps to coordinate and participate in all areas of programming
  • Must be a certified lifeguard

 

Family and Weekend Director

  • Coordinates and implements family programs, such as 123 Camp
  • Emphasis on adult advisor hospitality
  • Hosts weekend retreat groups
