Worship Retreat

November 10-11, 2016

For Pastors and Worship leaders to gather in conversation around Worship as an integral part of faith formation.

Come to Joy Ranch for time away spent learning and in conversation with colleagues around the topic of faith formation in Worship.

Gregory Rawn will be the presentor for the topic throughout the retreat. Gregory Rawn is the owner and publisher of Spirit and Truth Publishing, an independent micropublisher specializing in faith formation resources integrating education and worship, cross generationally. Greg graduated with an M.A. in Church History and Theology from Luther Seminary (St. Paul, MN) in 2005. He started Spirit and Truth Publishing in 2010, which currently publishes two series, Spirit and Truth to engage PK-6th graders with worship, the liturgy, and the church year, and Living the Word to teach all ages the story of the Bible, following the Narrative Lectionary. He has previously taught a workshop entitled “Engaging Children and Youth in Worship” at a 2012 South Central Synod of Wisconsin LEAD event.

Topic: "Sticky Worship"

Faith formation is any act, relationship, or experience that molds us into faithful disciples of Jesus. The central faith formation experience in our congregations is corporate worship. However, our corporate worship needs to be “sticky,” or effective in faith formation. Sticky worship happens when:

  • All are fully engaged in worship together.
  • All ministries are integrated together in an organic whole.
  • Congregational life is integrated with home and work.

Sticky worship connects worshippers with their Lord, each other, and their faith practiced in their daily lives.

As a part of the active, creative sessions with the presenter, you will work together to create a “sticky” cross+generational Advent service that you can take back to your congregation!
