I am a firm believer that we experience life and purpose most fully when we are doing something for the good of someone else. Humans were created to exist in community, and in community the emphasis has to shift from the individual, to the good of others. This is a lesson learned by experience at camp.
There is need and opportunity to give of ourselves all around this world. There are many people still devastated by the effects of storms. These people need us to give of ourselves for their survival. And once you have given to them, why don’t we try spending our day “giving” someone a smile, a hug, our attention, or giving someone who is lonely a listening ear.
“Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.”
